The Fringe at Tramlines

With the main festival at Hillsborough Park completely sold out, the city centre becomes the place to be. Hundreds of free performances across 40+ pubs, bars and outdoor spaces, plus a family-friendly main stage on Devonshire Green all weekend (Fri 24 – Sun 26 Jul).

Sheffield Grand Prix

The UK's top pro riders hit a 1.4km cobbled city-centre circuit past the Crucible and Town Hall on Wednesday evening, part of the British Cycling National Circuit Series, with a free community ride round the closed course at 5 pm before racing begins.

Matthew Bourne's The Car Man

Matthew Bourne's steamy dance-thriller reimagining of Bizet's Carmen rolls into the Lyceum for five nights only. Set in a sweltering 1960s American town, it's one of the most celebrated works from Britain's best-known choreographer.

Sheffield by the Seaside 2026

The Peace Gardens become a beach again, with real sand, a helter-skelter, swing rides and hook-a-duck, plus dodgems and a vintage carousel along Fargate. It opens Thursday and runs daily through the school holidays until 29 August.

Cinema in the Park at Chatsworth

Adventure Cinema sets up a giant open-air screen in Chatsworth's parkland beside the River Derwent. The weekend spans a Wicked sing-along on Friday, a Mamma Mia! ABBA-fest on Saturday and family screenings on Sunday. Bring a picnic and a blanket!

Pride of Yorkshire Sculpture Trail

A trail of 150 life-sized decorated lions and lionesses let loose across Sheffield and South Yorkshire until 8 September, raising money for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity. An easy free day out for families, and it pairs nicely with the city-centre seaside.

The Football Art Prize
