About us
Sheffield deserves a better what's on guide
Sheffield Weekly was launched in February 2026 because we were tired of missing great events in our own city and struggling to come up with things to do with friends and family. There's always something going on: gigs at The Leadmill, comedy at The Crookes, street food at Peddler, free exhibitions, local markets, etc. But finding it all meant scrolling through half a dozen forums, Instagram accounts and Facebook groups.
So we made it simple: one short email, every Sunday, with the best things to do in Sheffield that week. Hand-picked, no filler, no spam. 100% free. Made for Sheffield locals, by Sheffield locals. Our first email was supposed to be send on Sunday 15th February 2026, but we ran into technical issues, so it was actually sent just after midnight (00:05) on Monday 16th February 2026.
Today, we have sent 14 Sunday newsletters and hundreds of Sheffield locals read Sheffield Weekly every week. We're supported by local business advertising — which means the newsletter stays completely free, forever.
